The "Check The Coast" campaign was created as a fun way to get the word out about saving the California coast with a portion of your state tax return. We set out to create a campaign that could go viral and pick up traction with the help of a celebrity sponsor. Actor Adrien Grenier (Entourage) and professional surfer Liza Caban became the face of the campaign.
We created the “Coastie” otherwise known as a selfie with your hand making a “checkmark.” The campaign centered around celebrities taking a “Coastie" and posting to the #CheckTheCoast hashtag on Instagram. In addition to the “Coastie” we also had a beach sunset silhouetted onto a hand, once again making a “checkmark.” This sunset captures the beauty of what your help means to the California Coastal Commission.
